Do I need Wi-Fi?
Yes, Kini requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network to send alerts. It does not work with 5GHz-only networks. If your router broadcasts both frequencies, just make sure you connect Kini to the 2.4GHz band during setup.
No Wi-Fi? No problem. Kini works anywhere you have a cellular signal -- just connect it to a dedicated mobile hotspot. We use and sell the Solis Lite, a pocket-sized 4G LTE hotspot that can support up to 10 Kinis at a time. It's great for outbuildings, garages, hotel rooms, trade shows, or anywhere Wi-Fi doesn't reach.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 18 months on a single charge with normal use. When the battery drops below 20%, Kini will send you a reminder to recharge. When it's time, just plug it in via USB-C -- we include one in your set up pouch.
Do I need a subscription?
No. There are no monthly fees, no annual fees, and no premium tiers. You pay once and Kini works. SMS, email, and push alerts are all included at no additional cost.
How hard is it to set up?
Setup takes about 5 minutes. Download the free Kinisium app, create an account, enter your Wi-Fi credentials, and place Kini where you need it.
No tools, no drilling, no professional installation. If you can set up a new phone, you can set up a Kini. 😉
Is my data private?
Yes. Kini does not use cameras, GPS, or location tracking of any kind. The only data collected is what's needed to deliver your alerts -- your contact information and device activity log. We do not sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Will Kini work in my garage, basement, outbuilding, or car?
As long as your Wi-Fi signal reaches the location, yes. Kini connects to a standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If your signal is weak in that area, a Wi-Fi extender or a dedicated mobile hotspot will solve it. Many customers use Kini in detached garages, workshops, and outbuildings without any issues.
For vehicles, Kini works great with a mobile hotspot -- just leave the hotspot in the car and Kini stays connected wherever it's parked. It's a simple way to get an instant alert if anyone opens your glove box, center console, or cargo area.
