Note to New Kini Users
Congratulations! You have successfully activated a new Kini (did you name it?)
Here are somethings you should know:
- After Kini has detected a movement or vibration, it will spend some time waiting for the movement or vibration to stop. This is typically about 15 seconds, but can be customized in the Kini Settings.
- If your Kini is too sensitive and detects movements or vibrations that you feel are unnecessary, you can:
- reduce the sensitivity of the Kini. Kini has a basic sensitivity slider that goes from small, most sensitive values, to large and less sensitive values. If you wish to have more control over sensitivity, the Kini Advanced Settings allows you to separately specify the force threshold of the movement, and the count of how many times that force is sampled by Kini.
- or turn off axis of movement that you are not interested in. For example, a Kini installed in a drawer, only moves along one axis, so you could disable the other two axis. See Kini Advanced Settings.
- You can similarly make Kini more sensitive, if so desired.
- We recommend that you keep the default sensitivity settings initially as you familiarize yourself with Kini.
- Some users prefer that Kini not flash a light when moved. Kini Settings allows you to do so.
- Kini sends status messages periodically to our servers. This is how our servers know the battery state and the health of the Kini. If our servers do not get the status message as scheduled, they will assume that the Kini has been disabled or has lost its network connection (the Wi-Fi could have been taken down). You will get notified when this occurs. You can change the frequency of this status check from 15 minutes up to 4 hours, in the Kini Settings. Be forewarned that Kini’s extended charge time will be reduced from over a year if you increase the frequency to an hour or less.
